We hope that you find our Children's Services website useful. Our vision is that this will act as a "Health and Wellbeing portal" for the children and families that we serve. You will find links for Health Professionals, parents and families as well as for children and teenagers with useful information on your child's health and how to access further help and information. Our news tab will allow you to keep up to date with new developments, including our new Children's Assessment Unit ( CAU ) next to the Rainbow Paediatric ward.

The Children's Department at the West Suffolk Hospital consists of the Paediatric Outpatients, which is on the ground floor and the Rainbow Ward F1, which is on the first floor. On 4th October 2010 we opened a new Children's Assessment Unit ( CAU ) next to our existing Rainbow ward to provide rapid, high quality assessment and care for the children of West Suffolk. We also have a 12 cot neonatal intensive care unit on site looking after our newborn babies.

To find out more about ours staff and the services we provide please click on the links below. You can navigate around the rest of the site by clicking on the topic tabs in  the menu and submenu in the far left hand column of each page or on the green underlined links on the webpages. New Paediatric Assessment tools for children

We have developed a number of new children's assessment tools in conjunction with the NHS Institute. These are to be used in the setting both in the hospital and out of hospital by non-paediatric practitioners. They are for common childhood problems such as fever, bronchiolitis and gastroenteritis and adopt a common sense traffic light green, amber , red classification for management and advice for when to refer. Please click on the links below to see.
